Andy Murray is confident that new coach Esteban Carril can help bring him back to the tennis elite. Murray has put the Spaniard on trial, who previously trained Johanna Konta and was wanted as a candidate for Emma Raducanu before deciding to work with Torben Beltz. Carril is with Murray at the Stockholm Open this week and if a judgment can be made on the basis of a game alone the trial pairing seems to be working. While Murray was unable to convert seven match points in his last game against Dominik Koepfer at the Paris Masters in a painful defeat, he made it in Stockholm on the third attempt in a 6-1 7-6 win over Viktor Durasovic. The former world number one has said that if the process is successful, Carril will become his coaching team full-time. And Murray said, “It's another person with fresh eyes, a good reputation, and good experience. So I wanted to try it out and see how it goes. “The last few years have been tough for me and my team. Murray meets number 1 in Jannik Sinner and one of the rising stars of the men's game. About the match planned for the early evening he said: “Sinner played a fantastic season. He loves to play indoor hard courts so it will be a huge challenge for me. "But I still think I still have good tennis in me and I want to try to have more big tournaments."
