Galway Cat Rescue (GCR) are holding a Cat Adoption Information Session at the Petmania Galway on Saturday 30 April from 12pm to 4pm this bank holiday weekend. Galway Cat Rescue has dozens of adorable cats and kittens waiting for their forever families and those interested in adopting a kitten or adult cat can come to Petmania to meet GCR volunteers and start the adoption process . Galway Cat Rescue will also be holding a fundraising raffle on the day. According to a survey conducted for Petmania Galway in early 2022, cats are Ireland's second most popular pet. The pet store found that 51 percent have an adult cat, while only six percent have a kitten. Although kittens can be born any time of year, the vast majority are born during this time, making it the perfect time to host an in-store adoption information event. Petmania celebrates all cat lovers with a Cat Event in April, offering up to 30 percent off popular cat items like litter, toys and well-known food brands like Felix, Purina One and Go Cat. Petmania is encouraging cat lovers to enter its cat database for a chance to win one of 16 baskets of cat treats, including a three month supply of Felix food worth almost €300. According to Olivia O'Reilly of Galway Cat Rescue, they've been busier than ever during lockdown as people work from home and so are more likely to spot cats in need of TNR (trap, neutral, release) or rescue. “It was great that vets continued to accept cats for TNR and emergency services as part of primary care which kept our volunteers busy! The Adoption Information Day on April 30th is truly a celebration of the charity returning to some normality after two years of pandemic pandemonium. We look forward to meeting everyone in store at Petmania,” he said. Petmania is celebrating its Cat Event throughout April with up to 30 percent off popular cat items.
