Rising star Khamzat Chimaev challenges UFC rivals to two fights in two months

Khamzat Chimaev is the highest-ranking welterweight fighter not to be beaten by champion Kamaru Usman and wants to stay active while waiting for Leon Edwards to get his shot (Author: Gardener)

Khamzat ChimaevKhamzat Chimaev is the highest-ranking welterweight fighter not to be beaten by champion Kamaru Usman and plans to stay active while waiting for Leon Edwards to get his shot later this year. Chimaev is the No. 3 welterweight contender in the promotion and the highest ranking fighter unbeaten by champion Kamaru Usman. But he will have to wait his turn until Leon Edwards gets his world title rematch on August 20 against Nigerian-favorite Diaz in August, before taking on No. 5 contender Muhammad just over two months later . He and Muhammad have already verbally agreed to meet at UFC 281 in Abu Dhabi on October 22 and Chimaev would like to sneak in one more fight in the meantime. "I want to fight in August I'm ready Nate Diaz let's do it skinny boy," Chimaev said yesterday in a tweet tagging the UFC and boss Dana White. He then announced that he plans to fight Diaz in August and Muhammad in October. Diaz appeared to imply in a deleted tweet yesterday that he is not interested in fighting Chimaev, although he did not address the fighter by name. Khamzat Chimaev wants to face Nate Diaz and Belal Muhammad. Are you looking forward to Khamzat Chimaev getting back into action? He returned over a year later at UFC 267 last October, making easy one-round work with Li Jingliang and setting up a showdown with former world title challenger Gilbert Burns. The Brazilian presented him with the first real test of his career, fighting to a unanimous decision win. And he now wants to return to the activities that saw his star rise at a rapid pace in 2020 by taking on two big stars in Diaz and Muhammad. Diaz is one of the most famous fighters in the world but would probably find a fight against Chimaev difficult to maneuver. Meanwhile, given his recent form and impressive position in the rankings, Muhammad would be an intriguing opponent. A win over both men would almost certainly book Chimaev a title shot against the Usman vs Edwards 2 winner.

How Simon Tseko Nkoli fought against apartheid and homophobia

Simon Nkoli has spent his life fighting apartheid and homophobia and campaigning for people living with HIV/AIDS. (Author: Gardener)

NkoliSimon Nkoli not only had to contend with apartheid, but also with another form of discrimination that was then (and still is) more socially acceptable: homophobia. He dedicated his life to fighting these injustices and contributing to the emancipation of black people from racial discrimination and the LGBTQ+ community from gay antagonism. This key figure in South African history was born in Soweto on November 26, 1957 into a life of poverty. He was one of four children and was sent to live with his grandparents on a farm in the Free State. Nkoli had to work on the farm under harsh conditions, and if his work was not to the satisfaction of the white owner, he was beaten. He aspired to leave the farm in hopes of education, school, and work. Nkoli finally escaped at age 13 and returned to his mother in Gauteng, where he continued his studies. Nkoli discovered his sexual identity as a teenager but did not join his family until 1977 when he was 20 years old due to rampant homophobia. This revelation wasn't well received, as his family reportedly viewed his sexuality as an illness affecting only white people. His mother and stepfather tried to cure him of this "disease" and sent Nkoli to conversion therapy through traditional healers, priests and psychiatrists. His anti-apartheid activism began in 1980 when he joined the Congress of South African Students (Cosas), a struggle group formed in 1979, at a college in Johannesburg. This caused internal conflicts within the activist and he joined the Gay and Lesbian Association (Gasa). However, the group did not want to be associated with his anti-apartheid sentiments and work. "If you're black and gay in South Africa, it's really all the same closet. On September 23, 1984, at a march against rent increases in the Sebokeng area, police opened fire, killing scores and arresting leading political figures who had taken part in the protests, including Nkoli under the United Democratic Front (UDF). He discovered he was HIV positive after leaving prison and wanted to help end the stigma faced by patients living with the virus. He continued his activism against homophobia and founded the Gay and Lesbian Organization of the Witwatersrand (Glow), the first of its kind in the townships of Johannesburg. “With this march, gays and lesbians join the struggle for a democratic South Africa where all have equal rights and all are protected by the law; black, white and women, gay and straight,” Nkoli said. Nkoli was the first openly gay man to meet Nelson Mandela. He is credited with being among those who helped end the Bestiality Act in 1996 and the protections against discrimination in the Bill of Rights. After living with HIV for 12 years, he succumbed to AIDS on November 30, 1998. Despite being a larger than life figure thanks to his activism and advocacy, Nkoli was considered quiet and quiet.

Naomi posts motivational video in first tweet since WWE Walkout

The 30-second video is the first tweet from either Naomi or Sasha Banks in almost four weeks. (Author: Gardener)

WWE WalkoutNormally, a lone tweet posting a motivational video wouldn't generate news, but if it's the first real social media activity from an act that publicly quit WWE four weeks ago, it'll be noted. On Saturday, Naomi tweeted a 30-second Instagram video from fitness instructor McDonald Jean-Louis that listed "five things you need to hear today." Positive messages expressed included, "You can look at it as a rejection, or you can look at it as a reorientation" and "You may have to disappoint others to make yourself happy." The tweet is the first by either Naomi or Sasha Banks since the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions left the company during the May 16 edition of Monday Night Raw. The duo surrendered their titles as they left, and WWE officially stripped them of the championship that week and announced a tournament to crown new champions, but nothing has been announced since. Banks has not tweeted or posted on Instagram since the strike, although she was caught on video at a Steve Aoki concert on Friday after the protest. Naomi only posted a single Instagram video of her and husband Jimmy Uso on the beach prior to Saturday's video. Given that neither woman has publicly commented on their strike or even remotely posted anything remotely touching on their feud with WWE, Naomi's choice of an inspirational video about rejection/diversion, fun and others in the Let down to make yourself happy, be insightful.

The motivation behind loud financial data

OUR ISAs, bonds and investments can hide a little during market turmoil, but understanding it and how it can benefit creates opportunity. (Author: Gardener)

OUR ISAs, bonds and investments can hide a little during market turmoil, but understanding it and how it can benefit creates opportunity. It also creates the opportunity for investors to lose significant returns on their investments through knee-jerk exit reactions. A few months ago I showed a series of very positive media headlines about markets (which would have attracted investors) followed by significant losses and a series of negative headlines immediately followed by significant gains. There is significant noise and it is paramount to be sober through noisy data with investments. “Pump and dump” means that an organization deliberately moves a market either up or down in order to then sell or buy it at above its value (Sell) or below its value (Buy). In 2019, Morgan Stanley was fined €20 million for pump-and-dump tactics, and recently there have been many pump-and-dump strategies in the virtually unregulated cryptocurrency sector. These scams have taken more than $2.8 billion in crypto in 2021. The person looking to sell the asset uses multiple social media platforms and "nice girl avatars" to "pump up" prices, relying on your "fear of missing out" (FOMO) and whoops, as the price rises, they quietly exit the market with a hefty profit. Emotions can run high with FOMO and the brain reaction is well known to those looking to turn their loss into their gain. In any state of high arousal (fear or excitement), the brain's ability to think logically decreases sharply and the mind becomes very binary: choose blue or red; Brexit or stay; Mask or anti-mask - you get the drift. This strategy is also very well known and strategic for those who want to part with your hard earned money and most notable is that when we are aroused we are very suggestible. It's hard to get your emotional needs met when so many gears are rusted or not working. When our emotional needs aren't being met in the right way, we may try to meet them in other ways, some of which may be unhealthy. And that's where emotion comes in. Overexcitation makes your investment in a product (Euromillions) worthwhile with a 139,838,160 chance of winning. Currently, the Securities and Exchange Commission has issued subpoenas to a number of high profile companies in the US for abusing block trading and we will await the outcome of that. In September 2021, Jay Powell ordered a review of the Federal Reserve's ethics rules after raising concerns about trading at the Fed. Certain officials who had come under fire for securities trading resigned. In January 2022, the vice chairman of the Federal Reserve resigned (the third in as many months) after revelations about his stock trading at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Markets had been slumped by the coronavirus chaos, but the vice chairman shifted capital into stocks just before the Fed announced it was ready to step in and provide economic support. As a psychologist friend once said to me, “Stop trying to force your views on fairness on the world. Accept that it's not fair and navigate through it.” That is indeed true, so do the right thing with all money decisions and just let a cool head like your independent financial adviser, lawyer or accountant guide you. This investment will turn out to be one of the best you've ever made. Paddy Pimblett reacts after Dana White vowed the UFC fight will never take place at Anfield

PADDY PIMBLETT doesn't think Dana White is telling the truth. (Author: Gardener)

Dana WhitePaddy Pimblett remains confident UFC will hold an event at Anfield Stadium, though company president Dana White has stated otherwise. The proud Liverpool native has dreamed of fighting at the home of his beloved youth club Liverpool FC since the beginning of his MMA career. The avid football fan has sold out the Liverpool Echo Arena multiple times for his previous rise to Cage Warriors and believes he will have similar success when the UFC comes to Anfield. I know I'll fight here someday; I've imagined it and imagined it over the years and now it's getting closer and closer. I know for a fact that it will happen. It will happen in the next five years. “This city will make it possible. However, despite Pimblett's insistence on an Anfield main event, Dana White is less than convinced by the suggestion of an outdoor show in England. When asked about the possibility of the UFC holding an event at Anfield on the Spinning Backfist MMA show, White said, "I'm not going outside. Listen, if you go outside, go to Abu Dhabi, where it's so hot as hell and it's absolutely not going to rain." Since the recent comments, Pimblett has responded with a tweet, citing White's 2011 comments that women "never ' would fight in the UFC. "My husband also once said that women will never fight in the UFC ... You boy will do the same Anfield here we come baby," Pimblett said. The UFC's first and only Liverpool event was refereed by fellow Liverpool man Darren Till, who defeated Stephen Thompson back at the Echo Arena in 2018. Pimblett has previously fought again at the arena due to its 11,000 capacity, stating, that he will only fight at Liverpool if the event takes place at Anfield on July 23 on his third promotion appearance, his only defeat coming to Claudio Puelles in June last year.

UFC 275 had a little of everything, but a rehash of arguably the biggest women's match in UFC history and the crowning of a new light heavyweight champion punctuated the action. (Author: Gardener)

Prochazka-TeixeiraUFC 275 had a little of everything, but a repeat of arguably the biggest women's match in UFC history and the crowning of a new light heavyweight champion punctuated Saturday's action in Singapore. In the main event, 42-year-old Glover Teixeira made his first-ever defense of his UFC light heavyweight championship against Jiří Procházka. Teixeira was the second-longest-serving champion in UFC history, while Procházka, 29, was looking to win the belt in his third UFC fight. The two traded punches in a fight that seemed even before the final round. Procházka showed his power in the fifth round with 4:32 and emerged victorious with a submission via rear naked choke. It was the second-to-last finish ever in a UFC title fight and Teixeira's first loss by submission of his 41-fight MMA career. "Like I said, before the fight, I'm ready to end it in the first or fifth round. It doesn't matter," Procházka said. Jiri Prochazka chokes Glover Teixeira in dying seconds to win UFC title

Prochazka submitted Teixeira with just seconds remaining in the final round while Valentina Shevchenko defended her women's flyweight belt at UFC 275 in Singapore (Author: Gardener)

Jiri ProchazkaProchazka sent Teixeira through to the finals with seconds remaining while Valentina Shevchenko defended her women's flyweight belt at UFC 275 in Singapore. Teixeira wasted no time in bringing Procazhka down as the fight began. Prochazka had a better second round and was able to show off his varied foot hitting. A nasty elbow from Teixeira saw Prochazka go into the third round in a bloody mess. Prochazka prevailed against Teixieira on feet, but also held his own in the clashes. The pair continued to go back and forth on the final lap, but Prochazka managed to capture Teixeira's back by just over 30 seconds and knock him out with a rear-naked choke. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko defended her seventh straight women's flyweight title, but was put to the test by top contender Taila Santos. The Brazilian surprised many fans when she won the first round by working on Shevchenko's back for submissions. Santos was a step ahead of Shevchenko in the clashes and was two rounds down in the championship rounds. A clash of heads caused Santos' right eye to swell severely as Shevchenko began to ramp up her performance. It was a back and forth in the final two rounds, but the judges saw 48-47, 47-48, 49-46 in Shevchenko's favour. Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili delivered one of the biggest fights in women's MMA history two years ago, but Zhang kept their rematch off the scorecards when she knocked out Jedrzejczyk with a spinning fist. Jedrzejczyk attempted a one-two that fell short in the second round when Zhang countered with a spinning backfist that hit the Polish fighter head-on. Also on the main card, Jake Matthews put in a fantastic performance by stopping Andre Fialho on the second lap. Matthews competed for the first time in over a year after not fighting since his submission loss to Sean Brady at UFC 259. Jack Della Maddalena earned his second UFC win by stopping Ramazan Emeev with a body shot in the first round. Maddalena won his UFC debut in January by KO after being signed following his Contender Series win.
