Debuting at Question Time, Vettel proved critics wrong on all fronts

The German made himself and Formula 1 proud... (Author: Gardener)

Question TimeMany raised eyebrows or rolled their eyes when Sebastian Vettel's Question Time appearance was announced - it proved them all wrong. In recent years, the German has been much more vocal on non-racing issues close to his heart, like protecting LQBTQ rights and tackling the climate crisis. However, others, both inside and outside the Formula 1 world, have criticized the Aston Martin man for his ever-growing activism and were therefore not too pleased when it was revealed that he was on Question Time, a British political show in the panel of panelists will answer questions posed by a live audience. However, not only did he survive and debunk claims that he was way over his head, he thrived on his debut. Fiona Bruce - "I want to tell you where we're going to be next week. We will be in Hackney, London, where we will be joined by Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel. Vettel's invitation to the show would have confused at best and angered at worst than his profession most of those who don't follow Formula 1 and therefore know little about him. After all, he's a wealthy German superstar who travels the world driving fast cars to make a living. What is his place in a show like this? He was eloquent and engaging throughout the show, being extremely knowledgeable on most subjects presented to him and fully acknowledging when he wasn't, being careful not to express opinions on things about which he didn't know much. Such knowledge was evident when the climate was discussed; Instead of making vague comments about how the world needs to tackle global warming, he was clear and detailed about what he felt needed to be done in the future and offered concrete solutions. "We have to stop being dependent [on fossil fuels] and we can because there are solutions," he said. In recent years, some have urged him to stay in Formula 1 because that seems to be the only thing he might know about as an F1 driver. It was never a particularly strong argument in the first place, but he's really debunked it now. Far fairer criticism thrown at him than lack of knowledge is hypocrisy, and he did not duck such accusations when confronted with them on Thursday night. I'm in a good mood, but not at all surprised. When presenter Fiona Bruce asked him if his job made him a hypocrite, rather than beating around the question or denying the allegation, he gave a refreshingly honest and direct response. "You're right when you laugh because there are questions I ask myself every day. I am not a saint. I wonder that.” “Yes,” he added, when asked if he was referring to being an F1 driver, “and traveling the world.” “I mean, it's my passion to drive a car. I love it and every time I get in the car. “Of course when I get out of the car I also think, should we do that, travel the world, waste resources.” Many will say that if they don't like the fact that the sport is damaging to the environment, then they should just do it and end his riding days sooner rather than later. However, as evidenced by his passionate defense immediately following the above comments outlining his importance in society, he clearly cares too much about Formula 1 to turn his back on it. After all, although he is a driver, he is also a fan; It's his job, but it's also his hobby. This is a man who could name the title winner of every single season - nobody loves it more than him. That love and his desire to tackle the climate crisis has caught him between a rock and a hard place where he's being criticized from both sides. The quick and obvious solution to this dilemma would be to walk away from Formula 1, but it's clear he'd rather stay in such a difficult position and try to help the sport become greener than take the easy way out Select . It will undoubtedly need to do so in the future, and in Vettel, with his knowledge and passion, he could not ask for a better helping hand and ambassador.

Katie PriceKatie Price showed off her son Harvey's giant gift bag on Tuesday ahead of his 20th birthday - a day before he pleaded guilty in court. It comes as Katie was warned on Wednesday she faces jail after pleading guilty to violating a restraining order by calling ex-husband Kieran Hayler's fiancé a 'gutter-s**g' designated. The day before her court appearance, Katie was clearly focused on her family, filming the gifts she bought Harvey. On Wednesday, Katie warned she faces jail time after pleading guilty to breaching a restraining order by calling ex-husband Kieran Hayler's fiancée "gutter s**g". Mother-of-five Price was arrested on January 21 on suspicion of violating her restraining order on Michelle Penticost by sending her ex a rude text message. "She's on a restraining order so she shouldn't be trying to piss me off as she's going against her and I'm sure she doesn't want people to know she was having an affair with you behind my back. Katie, who was joined by current partner Carl Woods at Lewes Crown Court today, was later charged with breaching a restraining order but pleaded not guilty on April 27 and requested a trial at Crown Court. However, she pleaded guilty today and was informed by Judge Stephen Mooney that she "is at risk of receiving an immediate prison sentence". It was previously suggested she could face five years in prison if found to have broken the order. Price's attorney, Nicholas Hamblin, said the star should again avoid jail as just the words "tell it" was a violation of the restraining order. He said, "Without those two words in the message, this would not be a violation." Price, who was released on bail, will be sentenced on June 24 for violating the sentence. On June 3, 2019, she was served the five-year restraining order prohibiting her from directly or indirectly contacting Penticost. The order came after Price hurled a foul-mouthed "abuse tirade" at her during a row in a schoolyard. Her lawyer added: "It is very telling in this case that there is a lot of background information that needs to be presented to the court. "A lot of this is in a therapist's report and the court would need to be kept informed of her current situation and indeed the matters that have taken up so much of her and other people's time over a number of years. “You will find that she has been given a suspended sentence. Katie arrived at today's hearing in a thick black wool coat with large sunglasses and white high-heeled cowboy boots. After allegedly sending rude messages to ex Kieran, Katie was arrested by officers at her home around 5.45pm on January 21 and taken to Worthing Police Station. When asked how she relied on a single charge of violating the order, the former glamor model replied, "Guilt." Nicholas Hamblin, defending herself, told the court the case against her rested on two words: "Tell your..." which was an indirect message to Miss Penticost. He said he will release a lot of personal information about Price as part of his mitigation. Judge Stephen Mooney told Price, "You have clearly accepted an offense and pleaded guilty, and you are aware that you committed the offense while on probation and are at risk of going to jail." He said she will until released on bail for sentencing next month while reports were being drawn up. But he warned her that if she did, she "faces an immediate prison sentence."

He said she will until released on bail for sentencing next month while reports were being drawn up. But he warned her that if she did, she "faces an immediate prison sentence." At an earlier hearing, Crawley Magistrates Court was told Price sent the "disgusting and nasty" message after Michelle Penticost uploaded an Instagram post about how to deal with people who treat you badly. The court heard there was a history of "clear antagonism" between Miss Price and Miss Penticost. Price and Kieran are parents to Jett, eight, and Bunny, seven, while he and Michelle are parents to their seven-month-old son, Apollo. She also risks jail time for being arrested for her drunk driving disgrace while she still has a driver's license. It was revealed yesterday that Price will not go to jail for speeding as her offense will be dealt with remotely under a little-known procedure. The troubled celebrity was allegedly clocked while driving over the 60mph speed limit in a BMW near her grimy villa in Horsham, West Sussex - just 11 days before she was involved in an accident with her car in September last year . The 43-year-old mother of five was due to appear before Crawley Magistrates' Court for speeding and failing to provide information to police. But the case is now being dealt with under the "single judicial process", which allows adults charged only with summary non-custodial offenses to have their cases dealt with by a judge remotely. This means the case can be treated with a fine and/or points on Price's driver's license and a driving ban. She cannot be detained as part of the proceedings and the case has been adjourned until July 5. Price avoided jail for September's alcohol and drugs crash by checking herself in for rehab at the Priory, which was costing almost £7,000 a week. A single judge who does not have to be in the court where a case is listed to hear it. The procedure was set up in 2015 to deal with minor traffic offenses and fare evasion. Defendants can plead online, but if they plead not guilty, they must appear in court at a later date. In October 2019, Price was banned from driving for 18 months for failing to tell police who was behind the wheel of her pink Range Rover in a crash in Bexley, south-east London. She was still locked in her BMW accident last September and would have been locked during the alleged speeding as well. After the crash, tests showed the TV personality had 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath - nearly double the legal limit of 35 mcg. Sussex Police said they wanted to appeal the suspended sentence but found there was no legal basis for doing so.
