Luca Bish reveals he spoke to Gemma Owen's family

The pair finished second in Monday night's episode in which they lost to winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti. (Author: Gardener)

Luca BishLuca Bish has revealed he finally spoke to Gemma Owen's family after the Love Island finale - and her mum Louise likes him. The pair finished second in Monday night's episode in which they lost to winners Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti. In an interview after the finale, Luca shared how he had a quick chat on the phone with Gemma's family - which includes her father Michael Owen - and is looking forward to meeting them in person. When asked what his family would think of Gemma, Luca said: "My family will love her! They have already said they love you. I'm looking for my sister, mum and grandma because my dad is easygoing. We got a call last night after the final and spoke to your [Gemma's] family, I've had a few moments with them and I look forward to meeting them in person. Asked for her mother's opinion of Luca, Gemma said: "If my mother said 'absolutely not' then yes, I think that would be the end. "I haven't had a chance to speak to her properly, but from the little bits I've heard, she's really happy and likes him." I was really excited to meet your mum and hear what she had to say." On meeting Luca's family, Gemma added, "I'm not really nervous about meeting Luca's family. "I think they all look absolutely lovely and I'm not nervous that Luca will meet mine because I think they'll get along and he'll fit in well. His personality, his banter and what he loves, I think he'll get along with everyone. The couple were asked what they thought of Gemma's mother Louise, who said Luca looked like her father Michael when he was younger. Luca said: "I think when he played football I was very young so I don't think I ever saw your father. I've seen him presenting and stuff now, but I don't think I resemble him there, but maybe when he was younger. Gemma said: "You have to see a picture of him when he was younger, side by side." When asked how it felt to finish second, Gemma said: "It feels absolutely fantastic. I have a feeling it could have been any of the four couples. Whatever the situation last night, I think we would all have just been happy for each other - a really good group of people. Luca also said he plans to make his relationship with Gemma "official" in the next month or so and the moment will include "a swimming pool". The fishmonger, who lives in Brighton, is also considering moving to Chester to be closer to Gemma. He said: "There's no middle ground - it's Chester or nothing! I like to go where she wants me to go. He added: "Just to be close to her family who I will love. When I hear stories about their BBQs and stuff like that I get pretty excited and I feel like I'll fit right in." When asked what they like about each other, Gemma said: "I would say the more we know each other , the more alike we are. Luca added: "My favorite thing about her is that no matter how I was feeling, I would turn around and she would just give me a hug or something and I would smile. I've never had this with anyone as I never want to show emotion in front of another partner. It comes after Love Island fans took to social media to spot an apparent snub from Gemma's family towards Luca. Following Gemma and Luca's second place finish, the fishmonger's family were quick to congratulate the couple, posting a snap of them alongside an exuberant caption. It read: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support you have shown this beautiful couple. This was in stark contrast to Gemma's Instagram, which noticeably only posted solo snaps of the brunette beauty before and after the finale, with Beau Luca being noticeably absent. Her loved ones shared a solo snap of Gemma in a nude ruched dress, writing the caption: "Words cannot describe how proud we all are of Gemma. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support... Gemma will be SO overwhelmed. "We're now giving that back to Gemma... We loved running her account and being a part of her @loveisland journey. Eagle-eyed fans at home were quick to take notice and tweeted that Gemma's family didn't like Luca very much and that they were doing "damage control" to protect Gemma's brand. One said: "I love that Gemma's family doesn't even try to hide the fact that she doesn't like Luca." Another pointed out: "Everyone else thinks Gemma said something about Luca to her family off camera , because why are there 0 pics of him since he met the parents? No mention of him in her caption - no stories, nothing Team Gemma instead of Lemma. While a third reiterated: "Gemma's family/account executives are already doing damage control and getting Gemma away from Luca as soon as possible. I'm IN TEARS!!" And a fourth agreed, writing: "Gemma's family just posted her and how proud they are of her. Meanwhile, viewers poked fun at Luca for his confused reaction after realizing he hadn't won Love Island in Monday's final. Fans of the show shared the screenshot on Twitter, joking that Luca, who's prompted backlash from viewers lately, would soon be asking for a recount while wondering if he "really thought he was going to win." They wrote, "WHY THE F**K IS HE CRAZING, DID HE ACC THINK HE WOULD WIN" and "Luca is asking to speak to a manager about a recount." Others added, "Luca got through humiliated by the victory of Ekin-Su and Davide. The satisfaction is real' and Luca will sit us down and ask us why we didn't choose her.' 'Here we are again, are you serious, why can't Luca at least be happy for Ekin and Davide for the rest of the show?' More chimed in with: "I'M FRAMED THIS AND HANGING IT IN THE LOUVRE" and "Luca thought he had the win in his pocket lmao." The embarrassing moment comes after Luca's family once again defended him, according to viewers blasted him for his "overreaction" to discovering his fellow islanders had voted for him to take part in the public vote. The Brighton native's family said he was "true to himself" and just been "honest with his feelings". Luca had been criticized by a number of viewers for getting angry after learning he and Gemma had been voted the least compatible couple. Luca later said: "I don't give a shit about the people I voted for," adding that he sounded "angry" because: "I just know how good me and Gemma are, but then have three of you voted for me.' Viewers at home berated Luca for his reaction, saying it was both over the top and hypocritical after he called out Tasha for being upset about being at the bottom and also voting for his fellow islanders. His family went to his Instagram stories, took to his page and screenshotted a comment from a fan supporting Luca. The comment read: "I can't believe how many people lack basic skills. Luca wasn't upset about the voices, he was upset that no one had previously raised concerns about him and Gemma's relationship. The Love Island 2022 series was a ratings hit, with 5 million viewers watching the opening episode of the cheeky show, but the show has been marred by controversy. Love Island: The Reunion, Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.

Last night, AEW hosted a special edition of Dynamite's Fight For The Fallen, featuring AEW Interim World Champion Jon Moxley, FTW Champion Ricky Starks and AEW Women's Champion Thunder Rosa, Sammy Guevara and more. Also, a huge Main Event between Jericho Appreciation Society's Daniel Garcia and returning Blackpool Combat Club's Bryan Danielson. The match started with Rush Moxley charging before the bell even rang and immediately taking the fight to the outside. Mox answered Rush with a tope suicida from the outside, but El Toro Blanco was looking for blood and used everything to keep the champion grounded. The match would continue to go back and forth, but Andrade's help almost gave Rush the championship. After the game, Chris Jericho interrupts the celebrations. Moxley would challenge Lionheart Chris Jericho for Dynamite in Minneapolis, where Jericho will get his shot at the AEW World Championship. Starks would follow up with the javelin to retain his championship. Starks would follow last week's example and make another challenge as he had more in the tank. After the game, Starks turned to the AEW fans and was obliterated by teammate Powerhouse Hobbs, who then followed up with a spinebuster and planted an already damaged Starks to the mat. At one point in the match, Dante dropped Guevara by diving off the stage. Jungle Boy, with Luchasurus at his side, headed into the ring to address Christian Cage as the former AEW World Tag Team Champion and to make things even more personal, using the pent-up anger from Cage's comments about Jungle Boy's life and responded with his own answer invading Christian's private life. Sterling's distractions gave Nese the upper hand in the early minutes of the fight when the Premier Athlete dropped Swerve onto the apron. As the match progressed, Swerve changed the tempo of the match in his favor, dropping Tony Nese with a double kick to the outside. Swerve would hit Sterling with a nauseating kick to the side of the head for the win. After the match, the camera is cut backwards and pans to Josh Woods standing over a fallen Keith Lee. This distraction allowed Nese to attack Strickland from behind, suggesting a new tag team formation. After losing to Yamashita in Japan, AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa looked to find her redemption in this title match. The match started with both women landing strikes outside of the ring before taking the fight inside where both competitors didn't back down. Yamashita would drop Rosa with a huge German suplex, but the AEW Women's Champion's resilience was too much for the challenger, as Rosa held via the Fire Thunder Driver. Bryan Danielson returned to in-ring competition after his loss to the Jericho Appreciation Society at Double Or Nothing in Anarchy In The Arena. The match would end in Garcia's favor after he ripped Danielson open after a DDT on the fairface. A bloody Danielson would continue to take the fight to Garcia and come close to victory, but a deflection from Hager on the outside allowed Garcia to capitalize and hit the American Dragon with a staker. Garcia followed with the sniper and to the surprise of everyone present, Garcia claimed the win after Danielson passed out.

Lucas reality TV past from Love Island as he appeared on the Channel 4 show last week

You might recognize him from the Love Island villa, but several observant viewers also spotted Luca's unexpected experience on the Channel 4 documentary series Night Coppers last week (Author: Gardener)

last weekLove Love Island? Love Love Island? After eight weeks of fire pit chats, flirty one-liners and mind-bending bombshells setting the drama, Love Island comes to a close tonight with a couple set to be crowned the overall winners. One couple still fighting for the coveted cash prize are Luca Bish and Gemma Owen, who have polarized the nation with their patented brand of Marmite romance. Love 'em or hate 'em, they've made a definite impression on viewers at home, but as several eagle-eyed fans have noted, Love Island isn't Luca's first exposure to reality TV, as he's also featured in a channel on our screens was 4 documentary. The 23-year-old fishmonger, who hails from Brighton, appeared in an episode of Night Coppers, an eight-part series that focuses on policing in his hometown as it tackles the after-dark challenges policing the seaside town. An episode filmed ahead of his arrival at the mansion, which aired last week, showed Lucas' distinctive appearance in one of the shots, as he walked around town in a very festive-inspired green coat with red trimmings. The cheeky local grinned alongside his buddies, enjoying an evening while the cops around him went about their more pressing task of battling a pair of elves who got into a fight during the Christmas episode. Although Luca himself wasn't involved in the fight, his presence drew a joke from one of the officers in attendance, who joked, "Are they different elves? The islander's carefree appearance was a far cry from his demeanor in recent days, after Luca appeared nervous as his time at the villa came to an end. Things even boiled over during last week's Mile High Club challenge when Gemma licked Adam Collard as part of the match, resulting in Luca pushing her away as she approached him again. Fans at home were unimpressed, but Luca's family jumped to his rescue on social media as they praised their son for being able to express how he was feeling. On his Instagram page, they wrote: "9/10 weeks without contact with any family and friends. It's a crazy intense environment where emotions are amplified. So proud of how vulnerable and in touch with his emotions he was. The family added: "First I have to admit he's a little f**k but I really don't feel like he's wrong at all here. Speaking to Luca about his reaction, Gemma said: "You can sit here and say you're not in a mood, you're in a mood." When I approached you in the challenge, you pushed me off, to which he replied that it was "just banter". Luca then stormed out of the conversation, took off his microphone and left the villa. The two later had another chat on the patio, where Luca explained that he was actually upset to see her like that in the challenge, but was upset that she brought it up later when he was ready to get over it and move on. Luca also appeared to be acting childish during Friday's voting round when it was revealed several of the other couples had voted his relationship with Gemma as one of the least compatible, leaving him furious. Islanders had been asked to vote for the couple they felt were the least compatible, with the couple receiving the most votes at risk of walking out of the villa. Despite Luca and Gemma Owen making it to the final, he was seen complaining to Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack about the others voting for them, in what many viewers at home called "childish". Explaining her reason for her selection, Indiyah said, "We know that arguments are normal, but it's about how you argue and what you argue about." Dami agreed with Indiyah, saying the couple could still make it out there , but Luca didn't seem amused and stormed off with Gemma after the conversation. The Love Island finale airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
