MzansiAs Mzansi celebrates Mandela Day, it's heartwarming to come across stories that make us proud to be South Africans. One such feel-good story comes from Nolubabalo Mantlotshane Xingashe Mpengesi, a hairdresser in Cape Town. In the #ImStaying Facebook group, she explained how a stranger's kindness made her day. She said that while shopping at Pick n Pay in Long Beach, she was blessed by someone she didn't know. "I didn't have enough cash so I tried to send money through my app - boom, the beautiful tall lady said 'oh you need $100?'" Mpengesi wrote. Mpengesi said the only thing she could do was give the kind stranger a warm hug as a token of appreciation. May you be more and more blessed.” And the Facebook group has become popular with locals, who use the platform to share their positive stories. Arsenal are hoping to finalize the contract with Man City for the Ukraine international earlier this week

Oleksandr Zinchenko has won four Premier League titles with Manchester City but only made 15 league appearances last season; Arsenal have already signed Gabriel Jesus from Pep Guardiola's side this summer; The Gunners accepted defeat in their attempts to sign Ajax's Lisandro Martinez (Author: Gardener)

Man CityArsenal are hoping to secure a deal with Manchester City to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko earlier this week. Zinchenko has spent just over six years at Man City, having joined the club as a teenager from Russian side Ufa. Coached by Mikel Arteta during Arsenal's tenure as assistant to Man City manager Pep Guardiola, the 25-year-old can fill a variety of positions including left-back and central midfield. Arsenal were in the market for a left-back and were looking to sign Ajax's Lisandro Martinez from Manchester United. Man City, meanwhile, are looking to sign a left-back and remain interested in Brighton's Marc Cucurella, Sky Sports News revealed back in June. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a hugely successful first season in the Premier League, having joined from Getafe in a deal worth around £15million last summer. Brighton don't want to let Cucurella go and it would take a huge offer for her to sell with four years left on his contract with Amex. Arsenal are open to letting him go as he has entered the final year of his contract and they have support from recently signed USA goalkeeper Matt Turner. Elsewhere, Valencia are interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira. Torreira has entered the final year of his contract and Arsenal are listening to offers after spending the last two seasons on loan - at Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 and at Fiorentina last season. Clubs in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga are also interested in signing forward Folarin Balogun on loan. Balogun is on the club's pre-season tour and manager Mikel Arteta will decide whether his development next season is best at Arsenal or on loan. “Mikel Arteta has been looking for new signings at left-back and central midfield this summer transfer window. The Gunners wanted Ajax's Lisandro Martinez, who has experience of playing in both positions and in the middle half but now appears destined for Manchester United. At left-back, Kieran Tierney has picked up long-term injuries at crucial moments over the past two seasons and while Nuno Tavares was signed as cover last summer, the young Portuguese full-back struggled in the big moments, finishing behind Cedric Soares and Granit Xhaka in the pecking order at left-back come at the end of the season: "In midfield, Xhaka is a mainstay in Arteta's team, but there's little competition for his specific role. Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga are all battling for the same position in Arsenal's midfield, leaving Xhaka as No. 8. "Should he play in midfield, a role he regularly assumes at international level, Zinchenko would rival Xhaka at Arsenal - and a closer look at their respective heatmaps from last season reveals the two play in the same area of the pitch, though The Ukrainian played at left-back and the Arsenal man in midfield: “On the ball, Zinchenko's passing stats are better than Xhaka's – but that's to be expected given Guardiola's City hold the ball and use it better than Arsenal. Zinchenko and City defended far less than Arsenal last summer but the Ukraine international's defensive stats still top Xhaka's. Zinchenko picked up more tackles, interceptions and aerial tackles than the Swiss midfielder - a reminder that the two players are roughly in the same area of the pitch seconds in his debut appearance for Arsenal, as his double led the Gunners to a 5-3 Friendly win against the German second division club FC Nuremberg.

Arteta's saliba promise as Zinchenko closes in

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta continues to be on the lookout for new players to take on the club's challenge to secure a much-needed Champions League spot next season (Author: Gardener)

ArtetaArsenal manager Mikel Arteta continues to be on the lookout for new players to meet the club's challenge to secure a much-needed Champions League spot next season, with stars including Gabriel Jesus. And they're not done yet as Oleksandr Zinchenko, the Brazilian's former Manchester City team-mate, is on the verge of joining him in north London. This £30m deal isn't the only deal Arsenal's transfer guru Edu is currently working on as the club continue to oversee Leicester City playmaker Youri Tielemans. Stay up to date with the latest Arsenal transfer news here...Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted it's "a matter of time" before Bukayo Saka signs a new contract with the club. The 20-year-old winger's current contract expires in the summer of 2024 and the Gunners have been locked in talks over new terms for some time. Amid reports that Manchester City are continuing to monitor the England starlet, Arsenal boss Arteta has offered a promising update to fans of the club. After Arsenal's 2-0 win over Everton in Baltimore in the early hours of Sunday, Arteta revealed: "We're going to try and we both have the same intention and it's a matter of time for the former Manchester City attacker in the current window, while Mikel Arteta continues his search for a new winger. The Gunners are one of several clubs from across Europe believed to be pursuing the 26-year-old, a player Arteta knows well from their time together at City. Arsenal appear to have rekindled their interest in Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo this summer, who s via a loan deal that subsequently collapsed. Although Arsenal appear to have moved on to other targets in the form of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Youri Tielemans, the north Londoners appear to remain keen on acquiring Arthur-alt this summer. Italian sales talks have 'restarted' between the two clubs and 'the next few days will be important' in relation to a potential transfer. Barcelona are believed to be considering a return for the Brazilian whom they reluctantly handed over to Juventus in 2020. while Jose Mourinho's Roma have also been linked. However, Arthur is believed not to be interested in a move to the Eternal City as Arsenal and Barcelona are the only possible destinations at the moment. Away from transfer news... Arsenal have unveiled the club's new away kit for the 22/23 season Gunners have once again teamed up with Adidas to produce a striking black number that includes gray shoulder stripes and gold print. 2022 Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Oleksandr Zinchenko as Manchester City have accelerated their plans to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton as his replacement. Mikel Arteta has already raided his former club once before this summer and is now expected to do so again for the Ukraine star. Zinchenko was a versatile player during his time at City but he wants to be a regular in central midfield - a role he may not be offered at Etihad. As a result, a £30million move to the Emirates is on the horizon and City, who are increasing their interest in Cucurella, are suggesting Zinchenko's days at the club are coming to an end. He would be Arsenal's fifth signing and could also see them end their interest in Leicester City's Youri Tielemans. Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor believes Arsenal still have more work to do in this summer's transfer market if they don't want to 'drift' The Gunners have already completed four signings in Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Gabriel Jesus , while the north Londoners are close to making Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko their fifth signing of the current window. Still, Agbonlahor believes Mikel Arteta must recruit a right winger or risk falling further behind arch-rivals Tottenham. "It's a big statement for Arsenal to sign Gabriel Jesus but they still need more work," Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. "It's Zinchenko's speech, who I think will be a great signing, a great addition. "He's versatile but maybe they need another right winger to replace Bukayo Saka because Nicolas Pepe didn't do it. These teams know they need to keep improving their squad because it's getting harder and harder to challenge for the top 4. "Arsenal don't want to be left behind. Spurs had a great window of opportunity so this season will be even harder to finish in the top 4 Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle have all been linked this summer with the midfielder, who appears set to face a new challenge this summer. The Belgian has just one year left on his current Foxes contract. "There's no update at all," Rodgers said. But of course with a year's contract he feels he has to take care of everything for himself and his family. "But I know he's committed to this as long as he's here. But it won't change whether he leaves or stays for someone else five years from now, he'll still be super committed." Arsenal appear to be missing out on Chelsea striker Armando Broja as the Albanian moves closer to a move to West Ham, one of the Premier's admirers League loaned out to Southampton last season - and the Gunners are believed to be among them. However, it seems the Hammers will win the race to sign the 20-year-old. According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, West Ham are close to an agreement on personal terms with the striker, while talks with Chelsea continue. Broja is said to have left the Blues pre-season tour of the United States to return to England and settle his future. Youri Tielemans remains awaiting a move to Arsenal this summer. The Leicester City midfielder, who has just one year left in his current Foxes deal, is set to face a new challenge in the current window and Arsenal are believed to be his preference, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs. Both Manchester United and Newcastle are said to be keen on taking on the Belgian this summer but no formal bids have been made for the 25-year-old yet. Leicester are holding out for a fee in the region of £25m-30m. Arsenal are expected to finalize the signing of Manchester City ace Oleksandr Zinchenko in the coming days. The Gunners are said to have had productive talks with the Premier League champions over the weekend and the Ukrainian is expected to put pen to paper earlier this week, according to the Daily Mail. The two clubs are believed to have reached an agreement for a fee of around £30million, while agreeing personal terms with the players is not expected to be an issue. Zinchenko is said to be excited at the prospect of working again with Arteta, who he worked closely with during the couple's time together in City. Mikel Arteta has again insisted William Saliba stay at Arsenal next season as he claims the French defender is 'in the plans'. The Spaniard also challenged the 21-year-old to capitalize on his chance at the Emirates. During the Gunners' preseason tour of the United States over the weekend, Arteta stated, "He's in the plans. It's about what you do there tomorrow and he will have the chance to play. "Hello and welcome to Mirror Football's coverage of Arsenal transfer news. It's going to be a busy day as the club are expected to continue their efforts to sign Zinchenko. Elsewhere we expect a Tielemans update as well as news on leno

New research shows that intrinsic motivation is crucial at work

How our motivations explain our performance and well-being at work. (Author: Gardener)

As I wrote earlier, when we are motivated to work by joy or by our values, we perform better at work and experience greater well-being. Now, a new meta-analysis I've worked on can tell us more about the benefits of being intrinsically motivated or being motivated by values we identify with. This meta-analysis included 124 studies that looked at outcomes related to different types of work motivation. Intrinsic motivation, that is, making an effort at work out of pleasure and interest, was by far the motivation type most strongly associated with positive outcomes: engagement at work, job satisfaction, attachment to the employer, and being proactive at work towards be. It was also the type of motivation most strongly associated with lower burnout levels, lower intention to quit the job, and lower likelihood of engaging in counterproductive behaviors such as calling in sick, interpersonal conflict, and stealing from the employer. Although intrinsic motivation has also been linked to job performance, exerting effort at work out of appreciation for work, not necessarily enjoyment of it, was actually the most important motive associated with job performance. This type of motivation usually occurs when people feel that their work is important and has a positive impact on others or the environment. This type of motivation was associated with the same good results achieved through intrinsic motivation. On average, when we compare the contribution of these two types of motivation to employee outcomes, intrinsic motivation accounts for over 45 percent of the variance of all the above work-related outcomes. However, value motivation accounts for another 22 percent. This means that being motivated by joy and values really drives us to perform at work. Another 9 percent of motivation comes from rewards and punishments, such as B. Pay, bonuses, promotions and keeping your job. This form of motivation is most commonly associated with staying with an employer as there are no better options. It was not strongly associated with either performance or well-being. Another 12 percent of performance comes from motivation based on pride and shame, which is primarily associated with feelings of loyalty to the employer and doing things outside of one's job description for the employer (so-called citizenship behavior). In summary, our meta-analysis shows that organizations can only benefit from promoting intrinsic motivation and motivation through values. This can be achieved by ensuring that employees feel competent, autonomous and connected to others at work. In fact, another meta-analysis showed that satisfying these three psychological needs is critical to fostering these good types of motivation.

Arsenal fans true thoughts on Man Utd hijacking of Lisandro Martinez

Arsenal have missed out on signing Lisandro Martinez after Manchester United beat her on the transfer, with Erik ten Hag using his Ajax connections this summer (Author: Gardener)

Lisandro MartinezArsenal have missed out on signing Lisandro Martinez after Manchester United beat her on transfer. Erik ten Hag used his Ajax connections this summer. Arsenal fans are divided on how they feel since missing out on Lisandro Martinez's signing. The Gunners became the first Premier League club to express interest in the Argentina international, having placed a bid of around £25million. Mikel Arteta urged Edu to try to sign the defender this summer after making him a priority. Martinez can play not only as a centre-back, but also as a left-back and in defensive midfield. His signing would have been a major coup for the Spaniard, who is desperate for some squad depth after missing out on the Champions League last season. However, it should not be that Manchester United creeps in amongst their Premier League rivals. Not only have they matched Ajax's price tag more than Arsenal - by sidestepping Martinez from Amsterdam for £46m, which could add another £8.5m - they have the advantage of Ten Hag at the top. But how do Arsenal fans feel after missing out on the signing of a direct rival? One fan wrote: "The guy has huge potential but getting Zinchenko for a better fee who's PL proven and able to play in multiple positions at a top club that's still 25 years old will be a great coup Erik ten Hag and Lisandro Martinez are set to be reunited at Old Trafford. Another said: "That's a ton for a 'left-sided centre-back'... United are clearly planning to go to a back 3. And a third said: "I wanted Martinez when he was 30million at most. 54 mil+ is a ridiculous charge imo. "I think we did a good job of switching to Zinchenko, especially given the cover he brings in midfield. Looks like they're going to try a back three." This supporter wrote: "Honestly think we could have signed him for a decent fee but once United got in the race Ajax knew there was only one thing left to do." Lisandro Martinez can play in defense and midfield, while this fan said: "One element that I think is getting less attention than it deserves is that we recalled Saliba, creating the need to sign Martinez , will be reduced much smaller role. I would prefer to give Saliba minutes to adapt and develop rather than overpay for a transfer like this." Arsenal may have missed out on Martinez but it hasn't been a slow summer at all in the Emirates, where they have four players And they're not done yet as Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to arrive from Manchester City while the likes of Youri Tielemans, Leroy Sane and Lucas Paqueta are there, meaning the summer has only just begun at Arsenal, where further transfers are planned.

Arsenal 'rekindle' interest in old flame as Bayern set their sights on Gunners transfer target

The latest Arsenal transfer gossip has seen Mikel Arteta's side already spend over £40m on a total of four acquisitions so far this summer, with yet another connection (Author: Gardener)

BayernThe latest transfer gossip surrounding Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta's side having already spent over £40m on a total of four acquisitions this summer, and another linked side of Mikel Arteta clinched their third win of the summer in Baltimore in the early hours of Sunday morning , America, with Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka both scoring within two minutes of the second half to give the Gunners a 2-0 win over Everton. It's already been a busy couple of months in the transfer window, with the Gunners spending £80m on Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos, although more acquisitions could soon follow. Mirror Sport have the latest Arsenal transfer gossip with one player linked to the Gunners' interest and another current player unlinked. Arsenal have reportedly reignited interest in signing Brazilian midfielder Arthur from Juventus, who has been sidelined from the Italian club's pre-season training camp in America. The midfielder has been listed as a transfer by the Bianconeri and reports from TMW (published by Football Italia) claim that the Gunners have recently resumed talks to sign the midfielder, who has spent the last two years in Turin. The Gunners have previously been linked with interest in the 25-year-old. Other European clubs are reportedly watching the midfielder's current situation, with his former club Barcelona reportedly among the other clubs interested in a move for the 22-time Brazilian international. Victor Osimhen linked with Arsenal move Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, previously linked with Arsenal, is reportedly being used by Bayern Munich to replace Robert Lewandowski, who has agreed to a deal at Barcelona. While Arsenal's Osimhen move was unlikely this summer following the £45million acquisition of Jesus from Manchester City, Arteta is yet to rule out the possibility of signing another new striker this summer, with Osimhen being one of a string of forwards to start with which has been linked to the Gunners for a number of months. Marseille's reported hopes of signing Gunners left-back Nuno Tavares this summer appear to have hit a stumbling block. The Guardian, which initially reported that the Ligue 1 side were keen to sign the Portuguese defender on loan this summer, has now said talks between Arsenal and Marseille have been cut short after a disagreement. The defender joined the Emirates Stadium from Benfica last summer but is behind Kieran Tierney in the pecking order, with Arsenal also linked with Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. However, according to the latest report from The Guardian, a loan for Tavares to Marseille seems unlikely as the Ligue 1 side are believed to be unhappy Arsenal have refused to include a clause in the deal that would allow Marseille to leave the defender to buy in the future. should they want.

Arsenal go past Everton while Gabriel Jesus fills in crucial gap

Mikel Arteta's side recorded a solid win against Premier League rivals Everton last season as Arsenal new signing Gabriel Jesus scored his third goal in two games for his new side (Author: Gardener)

EvertonMikel Arteta's side recorded a solid pre-season win over Everton as Arsenal new signing Gabriel Jesus scored his third goal in two games for his new side Arsenal continued their fine pre-season form with a 2-0 win over Everton. Arteta started a powerful side against Frank Lampard's men, calling up an attacking trio of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli at the helm. The first two of those three found the net in the first half as Jesus' £45m move continues to look like a smart deal for the Gunners. Everton occasionally charged forward but couldn't really threaten summer newcomer Matt Turner, who would have felt at home as thousands of Americans packed Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium. The second half didn't offer much action as both sides reached something of a stalemate. But minutes on the bench are more important for both sides. Here are five talking points on Arsenal's win over Everton. From the start, Arsenal closed every Everton player. It paid off almost immediately as Jesus held onto a loose pass and forced a fine save from Pickford. Should the Gunners go into next season with this energy they will be a fabulous team to watch. Saka, Jesus and Martinelli all started for Arsenal against Everton in arguably Arteta's strongest front three. The latter Brazilian got off to a decent start, dribbled purposefully down the left flank before cutting in and delivering a dangerous ball. Saka adjusted his intensity on the right side, pushing and threatening. And in the middle they had Jesus, whose reckless finish opened the scoring at M&T Bank Stadium. Scoring goals has been Arteta's biggest problem since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left and Jesus could now be the man to fill that void. Arteta said that the French defender is in his plans for the upcoming season ahead of the game but it means nothing if Saliba doesn't play. Last season's young Ligue 1 Player of the Year held up strongly against Calvert-Lewin and held up his one-on-one well. Saliba lasted 72 minutes in what was a solid showing for the Frenchman. He will no doubt be pleased he wasn't one of the six substituted at half-time as he had more time to show Arteta what he's made of. His partnership with Gabriel has got off to a good start. Arsenal looked stable in the first half with Partey and Xhaka's partnership. But the introduction of substitutions at half-time unbalanced the side and Maitland Niles and Elneny struggled to meet the same standards. Everton, albeit a very different Everton XI, looked much more secure on the ball and were able to drive forward with ease. It's a concern for Arteta given Xhaka and Partey's injury record. Smith Rowe and Vieira are good backups for Odegaard but the Gunners boss doesn't have the same for a deeper midfield. It was a narrow escape for Everton last season, they should never have been in a dogfight. And Lampard will have seen both things that made him happy and worried him against Arsenal. The Toffees boss opted for a completely different XI at half-time and it was this side that delivered the better of the two. Iwobi was lively on the right while Tarkowski looked secure at the back. But Lampard will not be able to overlook the glaring absence of a ruthless attacking player. Since there aren't many of these types of players, it's a mystery to Lampard.

Ex-UFC star, 37, sells pics of her feet and sends fans her SOCKS

Felice Herrig, 37, a former UFC fighter, says she's comfortable with the profits she makes from adult photo subscription service OnlyFans — and is actually making more money by selling the pictures. (Author: Gardener)

37A former UFC star continues to make money selling her used socks and pictures of her feet to her devoted fans, making more money than she does as a fighter. Felice Herrig, 37, who announced last month that she was giving up her career with the Ultimate Fighting Championship before signing with Bare Knuckle Fight Club earlier this month, told TMZ that she's happy with the wins she's with OnlyFans scored, doing well. Some fans with foot fetishes have asked for more close-ups, Herrig revealed, which she's happy to provide. Others, she said, have asked to buy her used socks, which she now sells for $150 each. The money she gets from those pictures and sock sales, Herrig said, allows her to fight in her spare time instead of having to constantly fight to make money. According to, Herrig started her OnlyFans account while recovering from two knee surgeries that left her sidelined for almost two years. She wasn't making any money back then because fighters only get paid when they fight, Herrig explained, so she started the side so she could rest and recover. "I probably would have come back from my injury a lot sooner if it wasn't for OnlyFans because I had to," she said on The Fighter vs. Herrig credits at least some of that success on the site to her name and brand, but she does said, "It's also nice because it allowed me to work on the recovery that I needed to do. "OnlyFans made it where I don't necessarily want to fight again," she said. "It's actually making me more money than I've ever made from fighting - and I've made good money from fighting. Herrig has been a UFC mixed martial artist since 2009 and has competed 24 times, including the televised UFC Fight Night. But after a while, reports, the competition was taking its toll on her body and she started looking elsewhere for opportunities. Finally, she signed with Bare Knuckle Fight Club earlier this month. “Felice was one of the UFC's most popular fighters during her eight years with the company and sees an opportunity to succeed in bareknuckle combat. "We have a wealth of talented and tough fighters and look forward to seeing them squared," he added. Herrig now says BKFC is a perfect fit for what she's really passionate about fighting for, revealing to TMZ that she's not very into mixed martial arts. "Now we've come full circle," she said.
