How Emma Raducanu became the new queen of the high-low style

How Emma Raducanu became the new queen of the high-low style (Author: Gardener)

Emma in Sports Direct's new 2021 Christmas advertising campaign. But after the 18-year-old signed with luxury labels Tiffany & Co. and Christian Dior, Raducanu's latest partnership is perhaps more surprising. Raducanu, whose historic US Open victory came just months after graduating from Newstead Wood School in Bromley in September, wears a signature Nike jersey as she knocks away snowballs and appears in advertisements for a few seconds. In the portfolio of brands that Raducanu now supports - Tiffany, Dior, Nike and racket supplier Wilson - there is just enough leeway to include the sporting goods discounter Sports Direct, which belongs to Mike Ashley, without disturbing their existing partnerships. But the calculated appearance offers an interesting insight into how power portfolio careers are built for celebrities these days and how carefully they have to be balanced in order not to deter premium fashion supporters or to unsettle masses of fans through inaccessibility. In the weeks that followed her headline-grabbing win, a lot of effort was put into quickly aligning Raducanu with the stars. More used to wearing jeans and trainers in her hometown of Bromley, the teen became a toast to the New York social scene just days after defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. Emma Raducanu wears Chanel to the Met Gala, September 2021 - AFP via Getty Images She wore Tiffany jewels and a Chanel dress to attend the Vogue-organized Met Gala alongside Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna. Back in London a week later, she was a guest of honor at a Tiffany London Fashion Week party, wearing around £ 100,000 worth of jewelry, including a pair of £ 37,000 worth of earrings. The next morning she was announced as the luxury jeweler’s new ambassador. A personal stylist, Nicky Yates, has been appointed to search for the best designer clothes for Raducanu to further enhance and enhance her personal brand image. Yates dressed her in Erdem, then Dior, for subsequent red carpet appearances - the latter finally announced her as the women's fashion ambassador on October 19. “It felt heavenly!” Raducanu said of the experience wearing Dior for the first time at the No Time To Die premiere. “Wearing a dress like this with all the magic of the Dior workshops was an absolutely unique experience… I was so honored to see my first film premiere in it.” Emma Raducanu wears Dior at the No Time To Die premiere September 2021 - Mike Marsland / WireImage Maintaining that appeal and maintaining a glamorous appearance off the pitch is vital for Raducanu's future when working with these luxury brands. Even wearing something off-duty from a competing label or a brand with poor manufacturing values can damage their reputation. Emma Raducanu was spotted in London in September 2021 - Getty As the man behind Maria Sharapova's career, purportedly worth £ 200million, he will understand the unique way sports and fashion sponsorship can collide and understand the intense nature of it how athletes need to maximize their opportunities throughout their career peak while trying to achieve longevity and fan appeal at the same time. If Raducanu gets it right, right now she could be maximizing both ends of the fashion market and becoming the queen of the high-low mix.
