Championship promotion odds as size of Vincent Kompany's Burnley surrender revealed

Manchester City hero Vincent Kompany is the new Burnley manager and has a big rebuilding job ahead of him as he attempts to bring them straight back to the Premier League (Author: Gardener)

BurnleyManchester City hero Vincent Kompany is the new Burnley manager and has a huge rebuilding job ahead of him as he attempts to bring them straight back to key Premier League dates from the new Championship season once games are released Vincent Kompany secures immediate promotion back to the Premier League. Not only were Burnley relegated to the Championship on the last day of last season, they have yet to sign new players despite the departure of a group of long-time stars. Captain Ben Mee left the club after 11 years while James Tarkowski and Aaron Lennon also sought new avenues. As if that wasn't enough, the club's financial situation has been questioned as they will have to repay "a significant part" of a £65million loan at the end of the season. Unsurprisingly, all of this has meant that many bookmakers are reluctant to re-promote Burnley straight away. BetVictor has them at 14/1 to win the league title next semester. The fixtures, released on Thursday morning, gave Kompany a baptism of fire with a trip to last season's beaten play-off finalists Huddersfield. Norwich City won the league title in both 2019 and 2021. Otherwise, Norwich are slight favorites for a third league title in five years, having finished first in 2019 and 2021. West Brom, who massively underperformed last season in 10th place, are expected to do much better this time around and are priced at 10/1 to finish at the top. Who will be promoted to the Premier League next season? Steve Bruce's West Brom are hoping to have a much better campaign this time around. There are varying degrees of optimism about the three teams that emerged from League One. Sunderland, back in the Second Division for the first time in four years, have a healthy 20/1 price tag to seal the title. Wigan Athletic, who finished third last season, will repeat that feat this season with 33/1. Rotherham United, who also secured automatic promotion, are the highest of all 24 clubs at 66/1. Maybe that's because they've been relegated at that level for the past three seasons.

Legendary StingDuring the June 22 episode of AEW Dynamite, Kazuchika Okada, a six-time NJPW Heavyweight Champion, made his debut for All Elite Wrestling. "The Rainmaker" ran to the ring to make the save for "Hangman" Adam Page, who was being tackled by Adam Cole and NJPW World Heavyweight Champion Jay White. After the chaotic instance, Cole retreated onto the stage alongside White to avoid further damage from Okada. AEW would then announce that White would make the first IWGP World Heavyweight Championship defense against Okada, Cole and Page in a 4-way match at this Sunday's PPV event. Christian Cage insults Jungle Boy's father Luke Perry on AEW Dynamite

All Elite Wrestling's Christian Cage insulted former mentee Jungle Boy, son of the late actor Luke Perry, by reminding him that Luke is dead. (Author: Gardener)

Christian CageProfessional wrestler Christian Cage, 48, has made it clear he is no longer supporting Jungle Boy, son of the late actor Luke Perry, in his wrestling career. The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star served as a mentor to Jungle Boy, whose real name is Jack Perry, 25, as they are part of professional wrestling tag team Jurassic Express, signed to AEW. However, on June 15, Christian ended the mentorship when he tried to help a defeated Jungle Boy out of the ring and instead turned on him and wreaked havoc on him with a killswitch move, putting his head back on the ground. He then grabbed two metal chairs and placed one under Jungle Boy's head before slamming the other against his head. "Your father is dead." – Christian Cage to Jungleboy. Now Christian has verbally shown he's done with Jungle Boy after suffering multiple losses by insulting his mother Rachel Sharp and bringing up his dead father. Christian began his pointed speech on AEW Dynamite on June 22 by saying he wanted Jungle Boy's mother to apologize for his birth, which she refused. I think she was a little sweet to Christian Cage, if you know what I mean. I think she wanted me to be Jungle Boy's father," he added, also saying that he was adamant that Jungle Boy considered him a father. He then directly insulted Jungle Boy. “But here's the Jungle Boy thing. I never wanted to be your father. I never wanted to be your father figure. You have a father, but your father is dead,” he slammed. "And that's probably a good thing, jungle boy, because he'd be embarrassed and ashamed to see how you've turned out. He would be ashamed if he saw you curl up like a ball on my feet and refuse to get up and fight back.” Christian ended his nasty speech by telling Jungle Boy that his career was over and he was will retire at the age of 25. However, not everyone was impressed that Christian was raising Luke. "Really good publicity. I could have forgone mentioning the dead father though," one person tweeted in response to the clip. "If you're going down that road, then at least build on it." Another accused Christian of using "cheap, lazy heat." However, others thought that since Luke was a wrestling fan, he would understand why Christian had to draw the dead father's card. Luke died unexpectedly on March 4, 2019 after suffering a stroke just days before. “He was a lot of things to a lot of people. I've learned so much from you and my heart breaks just thinking about all the things you won't be here for.

Christian Cage mentions Luke Perry's death, Marko Stunt during AEW Dynamite

Tonight's episode of AEW "Dynamite" included a segment where Christian Cage came to the ring to explain his actions over the past week. (Author: Gardener)

ChristianTonight's episode of AEW "Dynamite" included a segment where Christian Cage came to the ring to talk to Tony Schiavone about his actions the week before. As previously mentioned, Cage turned heel on "Dynamite" last Wednesday and attacked Jungle Boy, hitting the young star with a Killswitch finisher and a brutal ConChairTo. Jungle Boy was carried backwards after "Dynamite" when Cage berated Jungle Boy's mother at ringside. Cage explained that there were a couple of reasons he turned against Jungle Boy, the first being how he eliminated him from the Casino Battle Royal at last year's Double or Nothing. He says that because of this loss he missed out on a big bonus and a fast track to the AEW World Championship. He goes on to explain that maybe it's an insignificant way of looking at things, but what's even more insignificant is how angry it made him to hear the loud cheering when Jungle Boy eliminated him. No, he just wanted big money and to be at the top where he thinks he deserves it. He believes Jungle Boy will never have that killer instinct and that's the main reason Jurassic Express lost the tag titles to The Young Bucks. Schiavone then drew attention to the confrontation Cage had with Jungle Boy's mother at ringside, where the two would berate each other. He knows he was like a father figure to Jungle Boy and his mother might want him as his new father, but he already had a father. And his father, Luke Perry, is dead. Perry justifiably suffered a stroke in 2019, caused by a blood clot that blocked a blood vessel, preventing blood and oxygen from getting to his brain properly. Tired of hearing Cage covering his mouth, Luchasaurus ran to the ring and began overpowering Cage in the corner while still holding the mic. It was difficult to understand everything Cage was saying, but at one point he clearly asks, "Remember what happened to Marko [stunt]?" Then Cage kept assuring Luchasaurus that he was like a son to him and hugged him before walking out of the ring together. Stunt, a former Jurassic Express fixture, received a call from Christopher Daniels back in March, telling him the company would not be renewing his contract. Budget cuts and a large, ever-growing list were cited as two reasons why his contract was not renewed at the time.
