Powerball's $ 632.6 million jackpot has two winners. So much goes to taxes

Two Powerball tickets - one in California and the other in Wisconsin - matched all six numbers drawn in Wednesday night's drawing. (Author: Gardener)

$ 632.6 million* At this $ 632.6 million jackpot, each winning ticket is worth $ 316.3 million or $ 225.1 million in cash. * A 24% federal withholding tax would reduce the lump sum by $ 54 million. * Wisconsin, where a ticket was purchased, would also withhold 7.65% or $ 17.2 million. Or three, if you count Uncle Sam. After three months in which no ticket matched all six numbers drawn, the Wednesday night drawing resulted in two jackpot winning tickets: one in California and the other in Wisconsin. Regardless of whether you take the stroke of luck as an annuity of 30 payments over 29 years or as an instant, reduced lump sum, taxes end up taking a significant portion of the profit off. For this $ 632.6 million jackpot, each ticket is worth $ 316.3 million or $ 225.1 million in cash. For the cash option - which most lottery winners choose - a federal income tax withholding of 24% would reduce the amount by $ 54 million to $ 171.1 million. California does not tax lottery winnings, which generally means that the Golden State winner will be given a state-level break (although the individual may not live in a different state). In Wisconsin, the state will withhold 7.65%, which means an additional $ 17.2 million will be thrown away, leaving that winner with $ 153.9 million. However, given the top tax rate of 37%, winners can expect to owe more on tax time. Powerball's jackpot has been reset to $ 20 million for its next drawing, scheduled for Saturday night. The Mega Millions grand prize is $ 278 million for the Friday night drawing. The cash option is $ 193 million.

Kentucky meets Iowa in the Citrus Bowl on New Years Day. Follow here for live updates! (Author: Gardener)

the Citrus Bowl 2021The Kentucky Wildcats football team ended their season four weeks after the last regular season game against Louisville. Wildcats # 22 (9-3, 5-3) meet # 15 Iowa (10-3, 7-3) in the Citrus Bowl at 1 p.m. Saturday. This is Britain's sixth straight bowl game and her second Citrus Bowl appearance in four years. Much attention has been paid to British coach Mark Stoops' connections to the Iowa program since the match was announced, wrote Beat writer Jon Hale. Stoops played in Iowa from 1986 to 1989, following his brothers Bob and Mike in Hawkeyes uniform. "My father folded my Hawkeyes jersey very neatly and put it in his coffin, where it is buried with the black and gold," said Stoops after the matchup was confirmed. Iowa Soccer: Kentucky vs. Iowa Soccer: What You Need to Know Before Picking the Citrus Bowl Winner Iowa quarterback Petras was rushed on the throw, and Square put an interceptor lock to seal the win for the Wildcats. Wan'Dale Robinson sets up a touchdown with a staggering 52-yard catch and runs all the way to the Iowa 1-yard line. A false start in offense helped the Wildcats up to the 6-yard line, but that didn't stop Chris Rodriguez, who broke a tackle past the scrimmage line before pushing into the end zone to take the lead. With less than five minutes remaining in regulation and lost to the Wildcats at 17-13, UK tried to get something on fourth and 10 off the Iowa 46. Levis tried to throw out of the shotgun formation and then aimed at DeMarcus Harris near the right sideline but was intercepted by Jermari Harris of Iowa. The Hawkeyes picked up 14 unanswered points in the second half and took the lead for the first time today. That drive was 92 yards in only nine games. Iowa scored a goal with a 36 yard pass for Sam LaPorta when he burst through three wildcats for the TD. Petras has amassed 182 passing yards with a TD and 2 interceptions so far in this game. LaPorta has 98 yards and a score. Iowa is seeing a sign of life the next ball possession after having been virtually nowhere for most of the game. The Hawkeyes covered 50 yards in six games, crowned by a touchdown run by Arland Bruce IV for 20 yards. Iowa closes the gap to 3 points on the score. Great Britain came out in the second half with the same defensive energy as in the first. On the opening drive of Iowa, the Hawkeyes entered the red zone for the first time during the entire game, settling on the fourth and one off the UK's 11-yard line. The keeper of QB Spencer Petras was free and the Wildcats took possession of the ball. Great Britain put on an impressive defensive performance just before half-time, with Quandre Mosely able to intercept an attempt by Iowa Hail Mary in the end zone. Will Levis is 9 for 11 for 91 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Chris Rodriguez has 56 yards on 10 carries. Wan'Dale Robinson has 61 yards with four catches in half. The defense allowed only 126 yards, 82 of which were in the air. UK took advantage of the interruption and extended their lead to two possession before half-time. The Wildcats covered 22 yards in five games before Matt Ruffolo took a 27-yard kick. On Iowa's second game of his next possession, Jordan Wright got hold of the ball for a distraction and Jackson fell to intercept. Jackson was originally slated to miss the entire season with an Achilles injury, but made his mark for the Wildcats just before half-time. The Wildcats were able to turn a long third and 26 into a first down when Wan'Dale put Robinson UK in a great position after a 34 yard catch from Levis at the Iowa 20. UK failed to turn this into a touchdown, however, as it got stuck at the 3-yard line after an unsuccessful Levis keeper and opted to kick the field goal. Iowa picked up some momentum, covering 55 yards in 10 games before the Wildcats peaked their progress in the red zone. Hawkeye's QB Spencer Petras is now 7 for 10 passing in the game for 58 yards but failed to get his team into the end zone. Iowa opted for a 28-yard field goal from Caleb Shudak instead. The Wildcats got off to a strong start. After forcing a three and an out in the Iowa opening game, UK stormed 8 yards down the field in 13 games before a pass from Will Levis to RB Chris Rodriguez resulted in a touchdown down the left of the end zone. Levis is a perfect 6 for 6 passing game to start the game, and Rodriguez has 28 yards on the first drive. ORLANDO - Kentucky football will normally be on the two deep depths table for the Citrus Bowl against Iowa with no at least eight players due to a combination of injury and health and safety protocols initiated by positive COVID-19 tests. Defensive end Josh Paschal, left tackle Dare Rosenthal, wide receiver Josh Ali and outside linebacker J. The most important backups include running back Kavosiey Smoke, linebacker Trevin Wallace, linebacker Marquez Bembry and wide receiver Isaiah Epps. Rosenthal, Weaver, Smoke, Wallace and Bembry had not previously been confirmed as missing the game. The UK has declined to identify certain players who tested positive for COVID-19 during the pandemic, so it is not clear whether these players are sidelined due to injury or health and safety protocols. Before kick-off on Saturday, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis tweeted the shoes he'll be wearing in the matchup against Iowa to honor the victims of the western Kentucky tornado that swept the region last month. ORLANDO - Kentucky Football Senior Captain Josh Pascal is "very questionable" playing Iowa in the Citrus Bowl. Britain's defensive end worsened an undisclosed injury in the regular season final against Louisville, then trip to Orlando was postponed due to another issue, UK manager Mark Stoops said Friday morning. While Paschal has had limited training since arriving in Orlando, Stoops made it clear that he likely won't be playing in the game. "I don't feel like I could play it with my mind," said Stoops. LEXINGTON - Kentucky football is likely to do without two of its best wide receivers for the Citrus Bowl. Super-senior Josh Ali and senior Isaiah Epps were involved in a car accident earlier this month that prevented them from playing in the bowl match with Iowa. They are fine but won't be available for the Iowa game. They tried to get back to playing but it just doesn't look like they'll be available to us in the Iowa game. "- Read more here from Beat writer Jon Hale LEXINGTON - In Talking about The Opponent of Kentucky -Footballs, Mark Stoops, generally likes to stick to coaching stereotypes, but even Stoops made no effort to hide the importance of Kentucky versus Iowa, which he and two of his brothers played in college for in the Citrus Bowl has my Hawkeyes jersey a lot neatly folded and placed in his coffin where he is buried with the black and gold, "Stoops said at a Zoom press conference on Sunday night after the matchup was confirmed. Iowa takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. January 1st at Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Florida. Tom Leach (play-by-play), Jeff Piecoro (analyst) and Dick Gabriel (part time) will be available at 840 p.m. in Louisville and both at 630 p.m. and 98.1 FM in Lexington or online at UKAthletics.com Follow the Courier Journal Ke ntucky Beat writer Jon Hale (@JonHale_CJ) for Wildcats updates. Follow USA TODAY network reporter Kennington Lloyd Smith (@SkinnyKenny_) for Iowa updates. The Wildcats are a 2.5-point favorite over the Hawkeyes, according to Tipico Sportsbook. Britain's moneyline is set at -140, which means that a player who wagered $ 140 on the Wildcats would win $ 100 if Britain wins outright. ESPN's Football Power Index gives the UK a 52.9% chance of winning the game. Tipico Sportsbook has set the total number of points for the game at 44.5. The Wildcats are 8-4 against the spread this year, including 5-2 as a favorite, according to Action Network, while Iowa is 7-6 against the spread, including 2-2 as an underdog. Lance makes 49ers fit for the future

Trey Lance showed off all of the tools that made him No. 3 overall on Sunday as Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert continue their rise to star. Josh Schrock distributes the 2021 season grades for every QB in the first or second year. (Author: Gardener)

49ersOr at least the influx of high profile quarterback talent in the last two drafts suggests that a new era is on the horizon. Yes, 38-year-old Aaron Rodgers is likely to win his second straight MVP award, and 44-year-old Tom Brady is still shredding his defense every Sunday. But last Sunday the first or second year quarterbacks started playing and Justin Fields is set to return in week 18, which would increase that number to 10 if Trey Lance nodded injured Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers against the Los Angeles Aries. A third of the league starts a quarterback who has been drafted in the last two seasons. Looking to week 18, the playoffs, and the future, here's a grade for any young quarterback's performance this season. Herbert rearranged the NFL rookie record book last season with the Chargers coaching staff, who facilitated his NFL transition by giving him "half reads". The Oregon product has continued its rise to star this season, breaking the Chargers' touchdown record in a single season at 35 while completing 67.3 percent of its passes and throwing 4,631 yards. The 23-year-old has gone from being a "half-read" rookie to one of the elite processors in the game in just one season. He continues to show great rhythm and anticipation while possessing the athleticism to extend games and the arm talent to make jaw-dropping throws like the one against the New York Giants. After being hampered by a poor offensive system in Oregon, Herbert quickly went from risky draft pick to young superstar, and the arrow points straight up for the Chargers caller. Burrow has thrown 971 yards and eight touchdowns in the past two weeks. In this way, Burrow became the first quarterback in NFL history to play back-to-back games with over 400 passing yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions. The 2020 overall number one won an AFC North title in year two and plays great football as the Bengals prepare for the Wild Card Round. The LSU product has impressive accuracy and an uncanny ability to dodge rushers. But, much like Herbert, Burrow's decision-making in year 2 took him and the Bengals to the next level. During the season, Burrow has thrown 4,611 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions while completing 70.4 percent of his passes. Add his unwavering nature and ability to bring his team back from multiple scores and the 2020 No. 1 pick has already gotten to grips with the rest of the NFL's best. All season long, Mac Jones did exactly what Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels asked him to do. He was a point guard for the Patriots offensive, made very few mistakes and brought New England back to the playoffs. Earlier in the season, Jones went on par with Tom Brady and Dak Prescott, giving the Patriots a chance to win both games. The Alabama product finds open recipients and delivers the ball on time. During the season, Jones threw 3,540 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 67.6 percent of his passes. We saw Lance make his first NFL start in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, and while there were some good moments in the 49ers 17:10 loss, Lance looked mostly overwhelmed. The number 3 overall selection in the NFL Draft 2021 has developed behind the scenes over the past two months, impressing its coaches and teammates with his scout teamwork. But since Jimmy Garoppolo was out with a thumb injury, Lance was called to start vs. on Sunday. While the rookie got off to a shaky start, he got involved and made a series of impressive throws that should keep the 49ers excited for their future. In this piece, Lance had a slight association with George Kittle in the apartment, but instead made a ridiculous throw to Trent Sherfield for the downfield degree. Obviously, Lance's ability to stretch the field vertically gives the 49ers offense a dimension that Garoppolo didn't have. He had some misfires, got picked up trying to meet George Kittle on a bike route between two defenders, and didn't always do the reading Kyle Shanahan probably would have preferred. But in his second career start and only his third overall start since the 2019 season, Lance showed all the tools that got the 49ers to pull him into 3rd place overall. As an NFL quarterback, he stays raw, but it's easy to see that if he develops on the right track, he'll become a star. Hurts had an eventful first full season as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Oklahoma product about Alabama had some stinkers early in the season, but it was late and had one of its best games on Sunday against the Washington Football team. With the running game not working and the offensive line struggling, Hurts put together a clean game, completing 65.4 percent of his passes while throwing 214 yards in a 20-16 win that secured the Eagles a playoff spot. While Hurts has only broken the 300-yard mark twice this season and hasn't done so since Week 4, he has steadily improved and demonstrated the ability to put the Eagles on their backs when his team needs him. It's not always noticeable at Hurts, but he's scored a total of 26 touchdowns and continues to grow as a passer. Last season, the Eagles went through with Carson Wentz as quarterback 3-8. You're 8-7 with hurts below the middle this season. There's not much to say about Lawrence that hasn't been said since the Jaguars hired Urban Meyer. The Jags have been in dumpsters all season and Lawrence paid the price for them. Jacksonville has no speed on the outside, the offensive scheme was poor, and Meyer's 13-game train wreck time was a constant distraction. Lawrence is struggling with this, but the tools that saw him as the next generation quarterback are still in place and he deserves a mulligan for this season. Much like Lawrence, Fields was hampered by Matt Nagy's inability to carry out an offensive tailored to his strengths. As a result, Fields had some shaky moments like his 68-yard performance against the Browns and his three-intercepting game against the Bucs. Fields had some great moments this season, however, most of which came either when offensive coordinator Bill Lazor called the Games or when Nagy was unable to train due to COVID-19 logs. When Nagy relinquished offensive control, the Bears' offensive made more sense of using Fields as a runner rather than insisting on keeping him in his pocket, and more extended route combinations. Even with Nagy getting in the way with limited boots and rollouts, Fields has still had moments where you can see how special he can be when the right staff is put around him. Fields has all the tools to be a special quarterback, but the Bears' next coach hire is crucial. Wilson struggled a lot early in the season. The game looked fast for the BYU product, it held the ball too long, took too many sacks and was prone to losing the ball. Wilson looked better late in the season, however, which is exactly what you'd want a young QB to see in his first season. Wilson had his best performance of the season in Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He had his shortest time to throw, but he did so while he was shooting in the field. He hasn't thrown a pick in his last four games and has made some eye-opening throws. The Texans' long-term plan as quarterback remains up in the air, but Mills did some nice things in his second stint as a starter. He completed 21 of 27 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns in a week 16 win against the Los Angeles Chargers, but returned to reality in Week 17 against the 49ers, throwing only 163 yards, with a few clear misses and a one-shot couple of costly mistakes. But the arm talent flashed when he connected a deep throw to Brandin Cooks, who was flying nearly 60 meters in the air. Mills also leads the NFL with a 113.3 pass rating in the red zone and has three 300-yard passes this season, while all other rookies have four combined. For the Dolphins' quarterback, things remain shaky at best. Tagovailoa has been an exceptional RPO quarterback this season, but he must be able to do more if Miami plans to stick with him as the franchise quarterback. Tagovailoa is a sure-fire thrower, but he is hindered by his questionable decision-making and inability to stretch the field vertically to increase the dolphins' offensive. There's reason to believe his cap is still high, but neither his stats (2,544 yards, 15 touchdowns, 10 interceptions) nor the eye test scream Franchise QB after two seasons.

Three answers and three questions about Real Madrid's win at Alcoyano

Real Madrid's progress in the Copa del Rey and these are the main topics of conversation. (Author: Gardener)

Real Madrid'sA year after Alcoyano's elimination in the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid returned to the Estadio El Collao, this time taking a 3-1 win and securing their place in the round of 16 of the tournament. 1. How would Lunin deal with the ghosts of Alcoy? We heard the name of the starting XI the day before the game - and no, not because Real Madrid are publishing their starting XI earlier and earlier ... In the press conference before the game, Ancelotti announced that Andriy would be Lunin. A quirk of fate and the game plan meant that this was only his second appearance at Real Madrid and that it took place at the same place where he made his first appearance and at Real Madrid 2-1 after extra time in the same phase Copa del Rey lost to Alcoyano last season. So how would he do? How would he cope with the ghosts of Alcoy and shake off the terrible memory that he has not yet been able to correct? It would be nice if he started the next round instead of having to wait another year for his next outing. 2. Is Ancelotti the man who finally wins Real Madrid another Copa del Rey? Real Madrid's relationship with the Copa del Rey is strange. Despite having by far the most Champions League and LaLiga Santander titles, they only have the third-most Spanish Cup at 19, behind Barcelona's 31 and Athletics 23. Los Blancos haven't won it since Carlo Ancelotti in 2013-14 has trained Copa del Rey title with the goal Bale against Bartra. Since then, Real Madrid have been eliminated - or disqualified - from the Copa del Rey in the last 16, last 32, quarters, quarters, semi-finals, quarters and last 32. This year they have at least passed the hurdle of the last 32 from Alcoyano and it seems like Ancelotti is taking this tournament seriously given the relatively strong starting line-up tonight. Let's see how long this year's Copa del Rey trip will last. 3. Would it be important that Ancelotti hadn't seen last year's elimination? As much as Ancelotti is a coach who handles cup competitions and has a strong starting XI, he admitted in the pre-game press conference that he hadn't seen Alcoyano go out last season. When Militão scored the first goal in the first half before Alcoyano equalized in the second half, just like last year, you wondered if maybe watching last season's game would have been useful to Alcoyano's hiring to understand better. In the end, it didn't matter as the third division side suffered some mishaps in defense, but it still seems strange that the coach didn't see or claim last year's game in order to have a better feeling about this year's one. Mariano's injury at the start of the second half meant we had the strange circumstance of Real Madrid putting a front three from Eden Hazard in the middle, Marco Asensio on attack on the right and Rodrygo on the left. Given that these are the three players who usually play on the right flank for minutes, it was strange to see them all collapse. They had all played together for just 28 minutes before today - two minutes in the Chelsea first leg last season and 13 minutes in the Chelsea second leg, plus six minutes and seven minutes in the second half of the 2-0 win against Osasuna in the last season in beating Real Betis earlier this season. In this game, they agreed longer than anything and played for 30 minutes. The trio combined for the second goal, just before the Belgian dropped, when Rodrygo Militãos masterfully picked up the ambitious ball across the field and then dropped it for Hazard Asensio to fire off the - albeit deflected - go-ahead. 2. Did David Alaba know this wasn't a LaLiga Santander game? David Alaba played this game as if it were a World Cup final. From minute one to minute 90, the Austrian central defender gave 100 percent, put his body on the line and put all his quality on the pitch. Did he know this was a Copa del Rey round of 32 games? Or maybe Alaba just gives everything, be it a cup game, a league game, a European game or a training session. 3. What can we expect from Dani Ceballos in the second half of the season? With a 3-1 from Real Madrid on the scoreboard and a look at the round of 16, Ancelotti was able to introduce Dani Ceballos in the 86th minute. Given his loan from Arsenal and his injury, this was the midfielder's first appearance since the end of the 2018/19 season, a full 983 days ago. As Ancelotti has been talking about for the past few weeks, it doesn't seem that Ceballos will leave for the winter market. So what role can we expect from him in the second half of this season? Will the Copa del Rey be the final physical therapy sessions of his recovery?
