Arsenal set up surprise day for N'Golo Kante as report details why Chelsea could authorize shock sale

With Arteta desperate to sign a new midfielder this summer, a report claims the Gunners are preparing a surprise move to land Kante from Chelsea (Author: Gardener)

ChelseaArsenal are reportedly reading a shock approach to signing N'Golo Kante - and the Gunners appear to have strong reason to believe they can pull off the surprise transfer coup. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu have gotten off to a fast start in the summer window. Indeed, they have secured their No.1 target in a new striker by signing Gabriel Jesus and taking over the No.9 shirt. And the Brazilian joins fellow newcomers Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner. To allow for such lavish spending, a report this week claims Arsenal are open to offers for seven players, including record signing Nicolas Pepe. A new left-back and a midfield commander remain at the top of the list. At left-back, Edu appears to be preparing an offer for Alex Grimaldo, with the Spaniard available at a decent price. However, it is an experienced midfielder who would really cap off an excellent summer for Arsenal. To that end, they are reportedly looking into a deal for Youri Tielemans. The Leicester star has just a year left on his contract and is expected to leave at a bargain price this summer. Arsenal also seem more ambitious towards Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Now the Daily Star claims Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a deal for Kante. The world champion is one of the most likeable stars in the Premier League. And while he remains a key cog in Thomas Tuchel's side, the report claims he could be sacked with just a year left on his contract. Chelsea, 31, seem unsure how long the deal is for which hand is edge. Therefore, Arsenal reportedly believe Chelsea are open to the possibility of his sale. Kante will also miss Chelsea's US tour. Both Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are reportedly left behind as a result. The Gunners' transfer ethos since Arteta took office has been to only sign young, hungry, rising stars. In that sense, last summer's signings of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Albert Sambi Lokonga made that clear. However, they seemed to lack that certain leadership and know-how in the final weeks of the season. Signing someone like Kante could seriously help in the coming seasons. Not only is he still an excellent player, his experience would prove invaluable to some of their younger stars. He's certainly someone that people like Odegaard can look up to and learn from. Therefore, if the price is right, he would be an excellent signing for Arsenal. Still, a deal for N'Golo Kante could prove to be a transfer feat for Arteta and Edu if they pull through. Three alternatives to Lisandro Martinez for Arsenal

Football Man UTD Transfer Talk offers three alternatives to Lisandro Martinez for Arsenal 489717 (Author: Gardener)

Lisandro MartinezArsenal could be frustrated in their efforts to bring Lisandro Martinez to the club from Ajax as the Argentina international is reportedly backing a move to Manchester United in the summer. Martinez was awarded the 2021-22 player of the season for his heroics at the heart of Ajax's defence, and journalist Gaston Edul claims the centre-back would prefer to be reunited with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. It was believed Mikel Arteta was enthusiastic about the idea of using Martinez at left-back given his qualities on the ball and Nuno Tavares' efforts to adapt to the Premier League last season. Here, Sports Mole look at three other players Arsenal could target who could take on the role of Martinez in Arteta's XI. Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo could be one of the summer's bargains for potential suitors as the defender is still only 26 and is set to become a free agent at the end of next season. Grimaldo's exploits with Roger Schmidt's side are likely to attract the interest of a number of clubs this summer, most notably Barcelona where he learned his craft as a youth player before moving across the Iberian Peninsula. Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko was seen as one of Arsenal's top summer targets in the early days of the transfer window, with Arteta knowing the 25-year-old well from his Etihad era. The chance to reunite with Arteta and Gabriel Jesus could be on Zinchenko's mind in the coming weeks and the Ukraine international has just two years left to complete his contract at Manchester. Zinchenko's skills in the middle of the park for Ukraine will certainly come in handy for Arsenal, who could still be looking to strengthen their ranks in the engine room before the window closes, and it wouldn't be a surprise if the Gunners expressed their interest in Man City Mann would revive if Marc Cucurella's proposed move to the Etihad comes to fruition. Hoffenheim's David Raum went to the Bundesliga like a duck to water and the Germany international proved to be one of the standout free transfers of the 2021 summer window. The 24-year-old's exploits have helped him find his feet in Germany under Hansi Flick and he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United before the Red Devils crashed out for Tyrell Malacia. With no competition from Old Trafford, Arsenal shouldn't turn up their noses to offer space and director Alexander Rosen has admitted the defender could leave for the right price this summer.

The journalist drops Arsenal's transfer claim on the £58.5million-rated Wenger-loved striker

Arsenal have Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry on their radar, although they are unlikely to sign him this summer, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke. The £58.5million-rated star has been linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium with just 12 months left on his contract at the Allianz Arena. What's new about Gnabry? (Author: Gardener)

58.5millionArsenal have Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry on their radar, although they are unlikely to sign him this summer, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke. The £58.5million-rated star has been linked with a return to the Emirates Stadium with just 12 months left on his contract at the Allianz Arena. According to CBS sports reporter Ben Jacobs, Arsenal are monitoring Gnabry's situation after he failed to sign Raphinha, who is expected to join either Chelsea or Barcelona. Gnabry, who was admired by ex-manager Arsene Wenger, made just 18 appearances during his first spell with the Gunners, although each of those came when Mikel Arteta was still at the club, which could help the Spaniard when they enter the negotiation phase . Since leaving north London, the 26-year-old has developed into one of the best attacking players in European football. His impressive rise has helped him win multiple trophies with Bayern Munich. But Gnabry could cost Arsenal in the region of £50m and while that's similar to what they would have had to pay for Raphinha, they know they could land the German on a free transfer once his contract expires after a 12-month wait . Therefore, despite Arsenal's interest in re-signing the forward, O'Rourke does not expect Gnabry to return to the Emirates before the September deadline. He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Gnabry has been on Arsenal's radar, although I don't think it's a deal they can do this summer. Although it didn't reach the heights of previous years, it was still another impressive goals and assists campaign. Across all competitions, he has scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists for his team-mates to help Bayern win another Bundesliga title, with his WhoScored ranking fifth best in the squad. Only Robert Lewandowski (35) has scored more goals than the ex-gunner, while only five other players in Bayern's squad have had more assists at the German top flight. Gnabry has also been in the top six for most shots, key passes and dribbling per appearance, proving he's still a top-level operator at the highest level and would therefore be a good addition to Arteta, be it this summer or in 2019 2023

Arsenal sent Youri Tielemans' demand as Leicester City dealt a transfer blow

LeicestershireLive brings you the latest news from Leicester City on Sunday 10th July (Author: Gardener)

Leicester CityArsenal have been urged by former Foxes and Gunners centre-forward Alan Smith to get the transfer of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans "over the line". As Smith adds, the north London side have "longstanding links with him" but sealed four summer signings before coming close to signing the Belgium international. After three of the quartet made their debuts in Arsenal's opening pre-season test, manager Mikel Arteta was asked about Tielemans but remained silent about any interest. READ MORE: Leicester City vs Notts County player ratings as Hamza Choudhury and Callum Wright stand out READ MORE: Brendan Rodgers explains why Kasper Schmeichel will miss Leicester City's pre-season Evian trip Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has responded to a question about the reported interest in Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. The north London club were adamantly accused of signing the Belgium international last season and those links have continued into this summer. Both clubs are well underway with their preparations for the season, with Arsenal playing their first friendly on Friday while City's schedule begins this afternoon. Arteta's side got off to a winning start against German second division club Nuremberg, with standout summer signing Gabriel Jesus helping with two goals to turn a two-goal deficit into a 5-3 win with a brace on the debut. AC Milan 'believe' they will beat Leicester City and Leeds United after signing Belgian striker Charles De Ketelaere. City have been linked with the 21-year-old since the January transfer window, with speculation continuing into the summer months. Italian giants AC Milan, who caused a stir against all odds by winning Serie A last season, are now on the verge of signing the highly rated player. De Ketelaere's performances for Club Brugge last season caught the attention of clubs across Europe, scoring 18 goals in 49 games in all competitions. The pre-season trip from Leicester City to Evian will offer Brendan Rodgers the opportunity to undertake another aspect of the 'healthy restructuring' he has planned for his squad this summer. Barring any significant progress over the next few days, City will not take any new recruits with them as the club has yet to sign this transfer window. Rodgers said earlier this year he wanted a "healthy reshuffle" of his roster and was hoping for five or six new faces. But while progress has been slow on that front, he has now said part of the team's overhaul will involve reminding players of his ideologies, which he believes he will be able to do in Evian. Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken out about a tactical change his team is working on ahead of the new season. During coverage on LCFC television this afternoon, former City defenseman Danny Simpson, who was on pundits duty, noted a tactical change Rodgers made during the game. Simpson noted that first-half full-backs Ricardo Pereira and Shane Flynn often took inside positions during the game. When Simpson asked Rodgers about this game, Rodgers said, "It's a rotating part of the game. When he (the full-back) comes in, the midfielder is in a more advanced position and we have to be more aggressive higher up the pitch.

Arsenal are reportedly stepping up efforts to sign Alex Grimaldo

Arsenal have been linked with Alex Grimaldo in recent days and the Gunners are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign him. (Author: Gardener)

Alex GrimaldoArsenal have been linked with Alex Grimaldo in recent days. Now a report from Portugal has claimed the Gunners may soon step up their efforts to sign him. Jornal do Noticias - via Sport Witness - claim Arsenal have stepped up their efforts to land Grimaldo. Any deal would then be conditional on Grimaldo accepting the move, the report added. In fact, Benfica have already eyed a replacement for him in Borussia Dortmund's Raphael Guerreiro. Like Grimaldo, Guerreiro is in the last year of his current contract. With the reported Arsenal target 'not looking to extend' it opens the door for the Gunners to sign him. Grimaldo has developed into one of the best players in the Primeira Liga in recent years. In his final season, Grimaldo contributed 10 goals in just 28 games. Given Kieran Tierney is Arsenal's first choice, anyone coming in would likely be a deputy. In fact, Manchester City's Pep Guardiola appeared to have had his eye on Grimaldo last summer. And now Arsenal could potentially land him for as little as £6million - sounds like a steal.
